Neon Text Effect

In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a neon text effect with any text or object. We will need a picture of the wall, but it is not necessary. I want this effect to look realistic and that's why I am using a picture of the wall. And I am using 2 different fonts, one is a popular neon font and another is a script font. Instead of just having a single text sign I wanted to add verity, so I combined two different colors and fonts with some elements.(neon font downloads)

Step 1
Open image that you want to use as a background, add Curves adjustment (to darkened an image), add Black and White adjustment, add Solid color - Black and set the opacity to 50 %.

Step 2
Add some main text, resize, and change the color light blue (00fcfe). Right-click go to Blending Options and choose Bevel & Emboss set the Style: Inner Bevel, Technique: Smooth, Depth: 272, Size: 27, Soften: 5, Angel: 30. Set the Highlight Mode to Screen, color white, Opacity 100. We don't need any shadow so in the Shadow Mode set Opacity to 0.

Choose Drop Shadow, set the Blending Mode to Multiply, Opacity 35%, Angel 30, Distance: 21, Spread: 0, Size:18

Next, choose Outer Glow set Blendin Mode to Screen, Opacity 21, Noise: 0, Technique: Softer, Spread: 17, Size 40
Make a layer copy(Ctrl+J), right-click, and select Disable Layer Effect. Right-click choose Convert to Smart Object. Go to Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur set at 66 px. The amount of blur depends on the intensity of the lights that you want to achieve. The bigger blur is, the more powerful the effect will be.

Step 3
Now add a second text, choose a different font, change the color to light orange (ff8001). Right-click go to Blending Options and choose Bevel & Emboss set the Style: Inner Bevel, Technique: Smooth, Depth: 136, Size: 5, Soften: 7, Angel: 30. Set the Highlight Mode to Screen, color white, Opacity 100%. We don't need any shadow so in the Shadow Mode set Opacity to 0.

Choose Drop Shadow, set the Blending Mode to Multiply, Opacity 35, Angel 30, Distance: 24, Spread: 0, Size:18. Next, choose the Outer Glow set Blendin Mode to Screen, Opacity 21, Noise: 0, Technique: Softer, Spread: 17, Size 40. And make sure that color is set to orange (ff8001).
Make a layer copy(Ctrl+J), right-click, and select Disable Layer Effect. Right-click choose Convert to Smart Object. Go to Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur set at 66 px

Step 4
Add a new layer set the Blending Mode to Screen, Opacity 50%, choose the light blue color (00fcfe), set the brush opacity to 30% and paint over the main text. Do the same for the second text, choose the light orange color  (ff8001).

Step 5
Now we will add some shapes to the text to lift up an effect. Make an ellipse and change the color to light orange(ff8001), make a layer copy, change the color to light blue (00fcfe) and make a little bigger and placed on the ends of the main text.

Now we will erase parts of an ellipse that goes over the letters. Choose the Rectangular Marquee tool, select the parts that we want to erase, right-click, and choose Select Inverse, and add a layer mask. How you need to do that whit both layers.

Step 6
Now we will add some glow to the ellipse layers. Right-click, to orange ellipse layer, and choose  Blending Options, select Outer Glow and change only the size to 80 px. Make a layer copy(Ctrl+J), right-click, and select Disable Layer Effect. Right-click choose Convert to Smart Object. Go to Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur set at 90 px. Do the same with the blue ellipse layer.
